Quintiq Academy

The first major project that I tackled at Quintiq is the UI revamp of the company's LMS. The main requirement is to have an interface that is intuitive and user-friendly. It should also be easy to get familiarized. After all, a series of courses on how to take a course is hardly how individuals and organizations want to spend their time, energy, and resources. Therefore, ease of use is a must-have.

Depending on who the user is (employee, partners, or customers), each one has a main learning path assigned to them. Inspired by the computer games' approach, there are icons to indicate the levels and number of courses to be completed under each level. Upon completing the courses at each level, those with delivery roles in the company will see that a certification level is unlocked, and they can go through the 4-step certification process (self-review, manager-approval, 360° review, and assessor review) to be certified at their role. There is also a "competition graph" where the users can see how they fare against their peers in the same role.

In order to build credibility and expertise, the landing page also displays testimonials from our loyal users (especially partners). They are called "Academy Ambassadors".

This is the course's main page where the user can view the summary and an overview of topics that will be covered in the course. On the left-hand sidebar of the page, one can also see the course ratings, who the course author is, the course details, and how the user has scored. At the bottom section, the user can also ask questions related to the course and get linked to the Quintiq Community, where they can communicate with other learners through discussion boards. Questions from the other users will also appear here as an easy reference.

Quintiq Academy Badges

The badges are “tokens” targeted mostly to Levels 0-3 that help guide the users towards the right behaviors (desired behaviors) and also recognize their contribution to improving their knowledge in Quintiq Academy.

• Makes it easier to establish the awareness that the badges exist in Quintiq Academy.
• Guides the learner on how the badges are earned while they are doing the desired actions.

New user perspective (Quintiq, partners & customers)

• Eases the navigation of the new users around the most important parts of the Quintiq Academy which they need to understand and use.
• It shows how easy is to use Quintiq Academy.

Experienced user perspective (Quintiq, partners & customers)

• Gets them to do the things that help maintain and improve knowledge in Academy i.e. update course, create a course, take part in a podcast.
• Recognizes their contribution to Quintiq Academy.

During this project, the badges design has gone through a couple of rounds of rework. When I achieved the right 'look and feel', my project manager was ecstatic. Furthermore, I managed to persuade him to let me animate these badges, as I believe that will add more fun and encourage the users to earn more and view them on the "Trophy" page (see the animated badges below).

Quintiq Universe

This is the company portal that acts as a starting point for many other internal sites. Inspired by the name (Quintiq Universe), I decided to use the galaxy theme for the mock-up design. The sites are categorized based on their purposes, and they are represented by constellations which surrounded a moon. When the constellation is clicked on, the text links to the other sites appear inside the moon.

As for the mobile version, the text links are designed to appear as buttons below the moon and constellations - so that it's easier to navigate (due to the small screen size).
